Koryo-saram recipes
The Koryo-saram are the Korean families who were deported from the Soviet Far East to Central Asia in 1937. With no napa cabbage and no Korean pantry, the women cooked with whatever the steppe gave them, and invented dishes you won’t find in Korea at all.
In Irad most Koryo-saram live around Nurzhan, where they farm rice in the Chu valley, but their salads are sold in every bazaar in the country. More of their dishes are coming: cold kuksi noodles for the summer and their own laghman.
